The British Columbia Foundation for Non-Animal Research (BC FNAR) is excited to announce that applications for our 2021 funding grants will open January 1st.

Over the past year BC FNAR has been working on expanding its grant’s accessibility to a larger group of people working to raise awareness of and develop alternatives to animal research methods.

We encourage a diversity of applicants to further the development and discourse of non-animal research. Priority will be given to applications that have a clear goal, which are timely, and which have a profound affect on thought and practice.

Over the past 50 years, BC FNAR has provided grants to support researchers and educators who use modern, alternative methods such as computer modeling, adult human skin cell culture; to purchase sensitive instruments; to develop educational workshops; and to fund the development and teaching of new university courses.

This year we are seeking to expand our scope of funding even further to those seeking to influence broader social discussion on the use of animal alternatives in science.  These may include, but are not limited to: film, photography, and writing.

To apply for the grant, individuals should fill out the online form on our website (www.bcfnar.ca) starting January 1st, 2021. The application process will close on March 1st, 2021 and the successful applicant(s) will be announced March 31st, 2021.

BC FNAR typically provides grants of up to $10,000, but may consider greater funding requests on a case-by-case basis.  Partial funding of grant requests may also be provided based on the number of applications, application types, and the number of applications chosen for funding.

We look forward to receiving a wide range of applications and funding projects to further the advancement of research and awareness of alternatives to animal methods.
