BC FNAR 2023 grant application now accepting submissions!

BC FNAR

The British Columbia Foundation for Non-Animal Research (BC FNAR) is excited to announce that applications for our 2023 funding grant is now open!

We encourage a diversity of applicants who are working to further the development and discourse of non-animal research. Priority will be given to applications that have a clear goal, which are timely, and which have a profound affect on thought and practice.

Over the past 53 years, BC FNAR has provided grants to support researchers and educators who use modern, alternative methods such as computer modeling and adult human skin cell culture; to purchasing sensitive instruments, developing educational workshops and to fund the development and teaching of new university courses.

Under our new application program, in 2021 we awarded $20,000 to the Canadian Centre for Animal Alternatives’ for their work on 3D Bio-printed, lung-on-a-dish development. In 2022, we awarded $10,000 to the Animal Alliance of Canada for their proposal of research identifying Non-Animal Methods (NAM’s) for the replacement of animal methods in the three primary areas of animal use in Canada.

To apply for the grant, individuals should fill out the online form on our website (www.bcfnar.ca) starting January 1st, 2023. The application process will close on April 30th, 2023 and the successful applicant(s) will be announced in June.

BC FNAR typically provides grants of up to $10,000, but may consider greater funding requests on a case-by-case basis.  Partial funding of grant requests may also be provided based on the number of applications, application types, and the number of applications chosen for funding.

We look forward to receiving a wide range of applications and funding projects to further the advancement of research and awareness of alternatives to animal methods.

Thank you to all applicants for their submissions in advance from the BC FNAR board.
